Exodus
40: "Then the cloud covered the meeting tent, and the glory of the LORD
filled the Dwelling." Moses constructed the tent of meeting just as
God instructed him, and placed within it the Ark of the Covenant. In the
meeting tent, Moses spoke with God, and
all the people looked to the tent for hope and guidance. In the
prologue of John's gospel he tells us clearly in the literal meaning of
the Greek text, "the Word became flesh and pitched his tent in our
midst." Jesus is the true tent of meeting, and He has pitched His tent
among us with the promise to remain always, until the end of the world.
As our ancestors in faith did, we look to the meeting tent – Jesus in
the flesh – for hope and security, confidence and guidance.
