As
the Catholic Church celebrates a "Year of Faith," almost 40 members of
Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton parish are participating in a 33-day Retreat
in preparation for what is called "total consecration to Jesus through
Mary." Mary, the mother of Jesus, was
completely consecrated to serving the Lord, obedient to the loving will
of our heavenly Father, empowered by the Holy Spirit. All that she had
and all that she did was given over totally to Him who was both her son
and savior. In 33 days of spiritual preparation, through Bible
readings, contemplation on the mysteries of the life of Jesus and Mary,
and through intense prayer, those who seek to make an act of total
consecration to Jesus through Mary discover God's intense mercy and
love, and put aside the pride that keeps them from falling at the feet
of the Lord in complete and humble trust. Please pray for these people,
who gather in large and small groups as part of their study,
reflection, and preparation, especially on February 11, when they will
make their act of total consecration in our parish church.
